After hitting basic html for the gmail to be accessible, some of the options seem to be missing. At least, I am unable to locate the address book. Where to add names, edit, etc etc.
Anyone uses the address book in gmail at all?
Other features seem to work ok. I just could not find a way to contact google and issue my concern.
I also searched for a pop3 ability, however, as a free account I didn't expect there to be such a luxury.

First of all,
There is a "contacts" link.
You might try that.
Second of all, yes, there is a way to enable pop3, which is why a lot of people have it.
you might look at
GMail's pop access support page
If this is no help, let me know either on this board, or by private message.
May you always find shade and water,

Negative.
When one clicks on the "contact" link, there is a list of contacts already there with checkboxes nect to them.
There is no link to add or remove a contact.
I suppose the names of the contacts are links of some sort, yet jaws does not distinguish them.
Just a checkbox, followed by the name as though in text.
You are correct in that there is a contacts link. However, there is still no means of adding or removing a contact from that window.

soz for the bump.
Having faced the same problem myself and having researched it, I have come to the conclusion that some of the features of gmail just aren't there in basic html, perhaps its just because they don't wanna convert from ajax to just plain none web 2.0 stuff for a bunch of blind people.
Regarding pop access, you have to go into the standard view. From there do settings and its in there - can't remember where but you should be able to do it,.
Whilst i'm talking about its ui, I actually find the standard view quite useable for basic stuff like settins, and the inbox is mre usefull in standard. I wish it would remember my selection and default to basic html though - I'm guessing that i'm going to have to intersept th http requests to fool gmail into thinking that ie won't support the ajax ui.
